What inspired me to start a blog?

Remember, blogging is not a new trend & having to come up with content that fascinates a whole different audience, apart from what is already out there, is not an easy task. Most people have videos on youtube to attract their target market, and a lot would tell me I'm no different to other sites, but what does set me apart from the rest, is being in the environment that I am, having the knowledge & creativity that I do. #imgoingtoinspire

I have been wanting to do make up, design, hair styling & even clothes styling for so many years. My journey, would have started back in 2013 when I initially wanted to enroll in Elizabeth galloway Design Academy, to study Fashion design, but my plans were derailed & I went on to study Psychology instead.

I won't lie, my passion for the arts never went away, but my life path had something different in store for me. I needed to study people & personas in depth to actually tempt my artistic side even more, I don't regret a single step!

Back then the fashion industry in South Africa was just starting to develop, had I entered it sooner, I might have lost my way, but I don't live on might's & if only's. A lot of people struggled and lost their spark and passion for it back then, but so many have paved a way as to where we should go with this. I have no doubt that I am going to make a success out of this.

The Northern Cape will be set on the map, I hope to inspire more of us here so that we can show them we are more then the bushes and dry sand around us, we are the diamonds they overlooked near the Big Hole!

Where has my journey taken me thus far?

As mentioned in my post about the pageant queen, she was my first paying client, for editorial looks. However I only did her make up. I mentioned that I was only used to doing make up in the house, though my skills were far beyond that. I am self-taught, current & my mother did cosmetology for Edgars many years ago. I picked up a lot of tips from her, and also my artistic talent & love for beauty (make up, style & hair). She has so much flair. Therefore you can imagine her being my greatest supporter & adviser.

My first booking was with the 16 year old Corbin, @_leigh_ludick_ on instagram, she is about to take part in her high school pageant, Miss HSDA, my alma mater in De Aar. I am already known for my make up trends, here in my home town of De Aar. The support I get from these young girls, are amazing and I'm so blessed that they choose me & trust me with their faces.

She booked an editorial look, as she was doing her first photo shoot. Since she has a young, fresh face, I did not have to do much, but accentuate her beauty. But editorial make up, needs to be long lasting, the camera can catch flaws and turn the pictures to a horrid experience, for both of us. The editing of the pictures cannot take the bad make up away, so editorial work, is high pressure for any make up artist. Then the other stress, is impressing the mother that looks over your shoulder with much expressing criticism. I know how to work under pressure & how to please parents. She clearly asked I don't do heavy looks, as she has a specific set up planned.

We decided on having a fresh, no make up, make up look that would go with three different clothes styling. Just to add a bit, I did a light pink eye, that has different aspects of her face pop, in the various looks she has chosen. Also, they wanted a day look but with flawless skin, as teenagers have so much acne. My goal was to hide this from the camera, because they won't be able to edit an already done look as mentioned before. Both the mother and daughter were more than pleased with the look, and when the pictures came out, they were in even more awe !

Here are Corbin's photos.
